Garena has unveiled the schedule for the 2025 Free Fire World Series (FFWS), highlighting Indonesia as the host for the Global Finals. The tournament will feature new formats and rules designed to enhance strategic gameplay and engagement.
The international competitions will include two major events. The first is the second edition of the Esports World Cup: Free Fire, set to take place from July 15 to 20 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The winning team will secure a direct spot in the FFWS Global Finals. The second event will be the FFWS Finals in Jakarta, Indonesia, scheduled for November, where 18 teams will compete for the world championship title.
The road to the global tournament begins in April with the launch of regional leagues in Brazil, Latin America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Pakistan.
Competition Format Changes
The 2025 edition will introduce rule changes and a revised scoring system aimed at creating a more dynamic and strategic experience. Key updates include:
- Double Elimination in the Last Round: During the elimination phase, kills in the last round of each stage will earn double points.
- Champion’s Race Bonus: In the FFWS Grand Final, teams must reach a pre-determined bonus threshold. The first team to secure a Booyah after reaching this bonus will automatically win the tournament. If no team reaches the bonus by the eighth match, the highest-ranked team will be crowned champion.
- Single Active Skill Rule: Each player on a team must equip a different active skill, requiring greater tactical adaptation during matches.
Global Talent Development Program
In addition to competition format changes, Garena has also announced a Global Talent Development Program. This initiative will be aimed at teams, players, and content creators, with further details to be announced in the future.
