The team behind the Fallout: London mod faces another hurdle due to the latest-generation updates for Fallout 4, which have caused additional issues for them.
A few months ago, Bethesda announced the release of its next-generation update for Fallout 4, scheduled to launch two days before the debut of the Fallout: London mod. This complicated the mod team's plans, but they decided to push forward. However, due to the problems caused by the next-generation patch, Bethesda inadvertently created a new obstacle: players will need to use an older version of Fallout 4 for the Fallout: London mod to function properly after the update.
For those playing Fallout 4 through the Epic Games Store, this becomes a bigger issue. The Epic Games Store does not support rolling back updates, meaning players on this platform won't have the option to use previous versions of the game. Therefore, when the Fallout: London mod initially launches, Epic Games Store users will not have access to it.
The developers of Fallout: London mentioned that the next-generation update for Fallout 4 is unstable, thus necessitating a downgrade to an earlier version of the game. According to VG247, the developers stated:
"With things breaking due to the next-gen [update] and then needing third parties to update, and then hoping they'd be fixed, only to find out at the 11th hour that the [next-gen version of Fallout 4], even after updates, isn't stable enough and therefore we're now coming out with the older version - hence the need for a downgrader."
While this may inconvenience Fallout 4 players on the Epic Games Store, it is hoped that Bethesda will address these issues in future updates.
