Starting September 27th, RuneScape players who use the optional membership to access exclusive benefits and additional features will face a price increase. Developer Jagex announced the change on its official website, highlighting that while the price hike is unavoidable, some players may be able to keep their current rates if they meet certain conditions.
Although optional, the RuneScape membership offers a much more comprehensive experience in the game's free versions. It grants players access to all quests, skills, exclusive areas, as well as personalized housing and ports. The annual Premier membership offers even more perks, such as exclusive cosmetics, daily rewards, and an additional weekly boss instance.
The new pricing structure will be as follows:
- 1 month: $13.99 / €12.49 (currently $12.49 / €10.99)
- 6 months: $71.94 / €50.94 (currently $59.99 / €53.99)
- Premier (annual): $99.48 / €89.88 (currently $79.99 / €69.99)
However, there is an option for players to retain their old rates, known as the "Grandfather Rate." To qualify, subscribers must keep their 1 or 6-month plans active and not let their membership lapse for more than 14 days. Otherwise, they will automatically be transitioned to the higher new rates. It’s important to note that this option does not apply to Premier members, who will need to pay the new rates upon renewal after September 27th due to the additional perks included in the plan.
For those who pay for their membership with Bonds, a form of in-game currency, prices will remain unchanged as they were already adjusted in June.
