Corepunk Temporarily Closes Pre-Orders Due to High Demand and Releases New Roadmap

The Corepunk development team has decided to temporarily suspend pre-orders for the game following an overwhelming response from the community. This decision comes shortly after the release of a new roadmap, which outlines the next steps as the game moves towards Early Access.

Pre-orders, which opened in July, offered a variety of perks, including exclusive skins, access to Alpha 4, Early Access, the full game release, and the first season of gameplay titled Light Bless the King. Initially, the team at Artificial Core was concerned about not attracting enough testers for Alpha 4, which was crucial for assessing the game’s performance on a large scale. However, demand far exceeded expectations.

In an official statement, the developers expressed their surprise and gratitude: "To be frank, after all the technical and gameplay failures we experienced, our biggest fear was having empty servers during testing, without the chance to properly test the game. But you, our community, had a different idea — you showed us the immense potential of our shared ideas and their implementation. Corepunk receives incredible support from you every day."

While the decision to close pre-orders might seem counterintuitive for an indie game approaching Early Access, it makes sense from an infrastructure standpoint. The team acknowledges that this was a difficult but necessary decision to ensure the game can be properly tested and adjusted before its broader release. They also highlighted the game’s resilience in maintaining a stable online presence, even under adverse conditions where servers faced frequent crashes for an entire week.

In the recently released roadmap update, the team outlines their current focus areas, including server stability, combat responsiveness and tactile feedback, mission improvements, expanded open-world content, and the introduction of a new location and biome. They are also actively developing battlegrounds, PvE instances, and a high-risk, high-reward full-loot PvP instance.

Corepunk sales are expected to reopen near the start of Early Access, currently scheduled for November 26th. However, pre-order bonuses and skins will remain exclusive to those who secured their copies before the sales were suspended.
