Invincible VS is officially stepping into the arena as the definitive fighting game experience for fans of Robert Kirkman’s brutal superhero saga.
While we have seen these characters appear as guests in other franchises, this standalone title is built from the ground up to translate the high stakes, planet-shattering intensity of the comics and the animated series into a competitive format.
It is a project that aims to bridge the gap between casual fans who love the lore and hardcore fighting game enthusiasts who live for frame data.
We have gathered all the confirmed details to ensure you are fully prepared for the carnage when the first round begins.
When is Invincible VS releasing?
The official release date for Invincible VS is April 30, 2026. This was recently confirmed during The Game Awards 2025, moving the project from a vague 2026 window to a concrete day that fans can circle on their calendars.
Pre-orders are already live across multiple platforms. Skybound Games is offering a few different versions, including a $50 Standard Edition and a $70 Digital Deluxe Edition.
If you are a fan of physical media, there are also boxed versions for PS5 and Xbox Series X that come with "Keepsake Cards" and even a physical controller guide. It is clear that Skybound is leaning into the collector culture that has surrounded the comics for years.
What kind of fighting game is Invincible VS?
Invincible VS is a 3v3 tag-team fighting game, much like Marvel vs. Capcom or Dragon Ball FighterZ. You’ll pick a team of three heroes (or villains) and swap between them on the fly to extend combos or save a character who is low on health.
The development is being handled by Quarter Up, a brand new in-house studio at Skybound. While the studio is new, the talent isn't.
The team is led by veterans who worked on the 2013 reboot of Killer Instinct. This is a huge deal for the fighting game community. It means we can expect a focus on "visceral combat" and "tournament-quality" mechanics.
During their presentation at EVO 2025, the devs mentioned a combo meter system inspired by Killer Instinct that prevents infinite combos while still rewarding high-level creativity.

Which characters are on the Invincible VS roster?
The game will launch with 18 playable characters, featuring a mix of fan favorites from the Amazon series and the original Image comics. Most importantly, the voice cast from the show, including J.K. Simmons as Omni-Man and Steven Yeun as Mark, are reprising their roles.
So far, the confirmed roster includes:
- Invincible (Mark Grayson)
- Omni-Man (Nolan Grayson)
- Atom Eve
- Rex Splode
- Battle Beast
- Robot
- Monster Girl
- Bulletproof
- Cecil Stedman (using government funds and tech to fight)
- Thula
- Ella Mental (A brand new character created specifically for the game)
Ella Mental is particularly interesting because she is a collaboration between the game devs and the original creators, Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker.
Voiced by rapper Tierra Whack, she is an elemental mage who can control earth, water, fire, and air. She represents the first time a major character has been introduced to the Invincible universe through a video game.
How does the gameplay actually feel?
The gameplay is described as fast, ferocious, and incredibly gore-heavy. True to the source material, the developers are not holding back on the "bone-breaking" nature of the fights.
Mechanically, the game utilizes Active Tagging, allowing you to switch characters mid-attack to keep the pressure on.
There are also defensive systems like Push Blocks and Assist Breakers to help you get out of a corner.
One of the most unique features is the Stage Transitions. If you land a specific heavy blow, you can smash your opponent through the environment, granting yourself a massive buff to your boost meter while temporarily disabling your opponent's ability to call for assists.

Will there be a story mode?
Yes, Invincible VS features a cinematic story mode with an original narrative written by Michael C. Rogers and Helen Leigh, one of the writers for the animated series.
Robert Kirkman has described the story as feeling like a "lost episode" of the show. It isn't just a retelling of the comics; it’s a new experience that fits into the existing lore.
For those who aren't into competitive ladder climbing, the game also offers an Arcade mode with individual character arcs, a Training mode, and local versus play.

What are the system requirements for PC?
If you are planning to play on Windows, you will need a relatively modern rig to handle the high-fidelity gore and fast-paced animations.
The game is built on Unreal Engine and seems to demand a decent amount of VRAM for its visual effects.
Minimum System Requirements:
- OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
- Processor: Intel Core i5-9500 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: RTX 2070 or Radeon RX 7800 (8GB VRAM)
- DirectX: Version 12
- Storage: 40 GB available space
The developers have also included a "Content Creator Mode" which disables the excessive blood and gore.
This is a smart move for streamers who want to showcase the game without running into platform strikes, but for everyone else, the "Standard" experience remains as brutal as the comics.
Is the online play optimized?
While the developers have promised a competitive-grade experience, tag-team fighters are notoriously sensitive to latency. In 3v3 games, timing your assists and tag-ins is the difference between a 50-hit combo and being punished for a wide-open opening.
Even with the best netcode, distance and ISP routing can cause jitter and packet loss.
This is where NoPing becomes essential. By finding the shortest route to the game servers, you can drop your ping and ensure that your "Heroic Strike" actually lands when you press the button. In a game that rewards "unparalleled heroic brutality," you don't want your connection to be the thing that feels weak.
Here’s how to use NoPing to fix high ping in online games:
- Sign-up through the website and download NoPing (you can test it for free).
- Open NoPing and search for your game inside the software

- Once you find it, click on it and, on the next screen, select “Choose automatic” or “Choose manual” and click “Continue”. We recommend choosing automatic, as NoPing’s technology analyzes all routes on a global scale and automatically selects the best option for you.

- On the next screen, click on “Optimize Game”.

- And that’s it, you can start playing with optimized ping!
You can test different servers within NoPing to see which gives you the lowest latency.
What happens after the game launches?
Skybound has already confirmed a Year 1 Character Pass. This pass will include three additional DLC characters that will be released throughout late 2026.
While we don't know who these characters are yet, the Invincible universe is massive. Fans are already speculating about characters like Allen the Alien or perhaps even crossover characters from other Skybound properties. Given that the game is published by the owners of the IP, the possibilities for future updates are almost endless.
Invincible VS looks like it might finally be the high-quality superhero fighter we’ve been waiting for. It has the right pedigree, the right creators involved, and a visual style that captures the intensity of the show.
