With just a few days left before the launch of New World: Aeternum, Amazon has shared detailed information on how the servers will operate and how server transfers will work. The global launch will follow a staggered schedule, which is uncommon for modern MMOs. On October 15, the European and Southeast Asian servers will unlock at 12 PM PT (7 AM UTC), while the US West, US East, and South American servers will go live at 6 AM PT/9 AM ET. This applies to all platforms, including PC, Xbox Series S|X, and PlayStation 5.
For PC players, servers will go offline for updates starting at 8:30 PM PT on October 14. Xbox and PlayStation players can begin pre-loading on October 13, while PC players will be able to download the update via Steam during the downtime on October 14.
With the influx of new players, additional servers will be introduced. Current game worlds will be labeled as "Legacy," while servers launching with Aeternum will be called "Standard." Players on Legacy servers cannot transfer to Standard servers, but Standard characters can be moved to Legacy worlds. However, once transferred to a Legacy world, the move is irreversible. Console players will also have the option to join console-specific servers if they prefer not to engage in cross-play, which is enabled by default.
New World: Aeternum is gearing up for its release next week, setting the stage for the MMO's future. New features include the Opportunity Season reward tracks, the PvP zone Cursed Mists, a 10-player raid, and much more.
