Pearl Abyss held the 2025 edition of its annual Heidel Ball this past weekend, an event dedicated to celebrating the Black Desert community.

This year’s presentation showcased a wide range of updates focused on new content and quality-of-life improvements.

Key highlights include the reveal of the new Wukong class, the introduction of the Edania region, interface and system updates, PvP rebalancing, and exclusive rewards for event participants.

Initiatives For New Players

Aiming to make the experience more welcoming for beginners, Pearl Abyss launched the “Start of the Journey” initiative. New players will receive 10 billion silver as they progress through questlines.

Additionally, the city of Olvia has been reimagined as the Olvia School, a beginner-friendly zone designed for practical training and social interaction in a “semester” format. Newcomers can practice combat, cooking, and alchemy using available tools, while also meeting fellow students.

Interface and Quality-of-Life Improvements

Several enhancements were introduced to make the game more intuitive and user-friendly:

  • Buff overview: Players can now view all 33 types of buffs along with detailed descriptions;
  • Streamlined inventory: Items like Cron Stones, Valks’ Advice, and Fairy's Blessings now have a dedicated inventory section, freeing up Pearl inventory space;
  • Upgrade interface update: The “Use Cron Stone” option now clearly states “Protect Enhancement Level” for easier understanding;
  • Build presets: Players can switch between builds for different content types like PvE and the Arena of Solare;
  • Map and event page updates: Coming in July and August, these updates will simplify navigation and event tracking;
  • Adventure Log and PvE adjustments: Attribute bonuses from Igor Bartali’s Adventure Log have been consolidated, and other logs will now reward cosmetic items such as rare colored titles.

Wukong Enters the Battlefield

Inspired by Journey to the West, Wukong is a new melee class wielding the Power Pole and the Jade Pillar Awakening Weapon.

Known as the Heir of the Fighting Buddha, he uses clones and an extendable staff to deliver powerful area combos. Riding his flying cloud, Wukong offers both mobility and flair. Early access begins on June 28 via the Global Lab.

A New Continent: Edania

Long-rumored, the northern continent of Edania, located above Valencia, was officially revealed. The content will be released in two phases, beginning with five major castles, each with its own lore and difficulty.

The monsters of this region belong to a new species called “Edania,” and players can obtain new artifacts, crystals, and alchemy recipes that enhance both PvE and PvP capabilities. These monsters introduce a new attribute: “Extra Damage to Edanian Monsters.”

Sovereign Sub-Weapons and a Mythical Horse Concept

A new tier of sub-weapons, known as Sovereign, will combine the powers of the world bosses Kutum and Nouver. Like other Sovereign gear, these weapons can be upgraded to DEC (X) level and offer three crafting methods.

Pearl Abyss also previewed a conceptual Mythical Horse that combines abilities from the Doom, Arduanatt, and Diné mounts.

This new versatile creature can run like Doom, glide like Arduanatt, and travel over water like Diné. The final name will be chosen in collaboration with the community.

PvP Balance and Combat Changes

Several changes aim to make PvP more skill-based and consistent across all classes:

  • Accuracy, Evasion, and Damage formulas will be standardized;
  • Super Armor damage reduction will now be additive;
  • Extra species damage has been separated into PvE and PvP categories;
  • Summon mechanics will now follow the main character’s damage formula;
  • PvP resistances removed: All resistances—including grab resistance—will be removed in PvP. Items with these traits will be converted to silver;
  • Mouse movement will be disabled to reduce desync and improve combat stability;
  • Class damage modifiers will be categorized as Guard, Charge, or Assault types to better balance class performance.

These changes will be gradually introduced for testing in the Global Lab.

MASTER CLASS PvP Tournament

The first MASTER CLASS tournament was also announced. This 1v1 global PvP competition will feature all 30 classes, including Wukong, and will use standardized gear to ensure fair matchups.

Winners will receive exclusive griffon mounts, special titles, and be honored at the next live Heidel Ball.

Costumes and Event Rewards

Two seasonal outfits—Summer Getaway and Ocean Spray—are being introduced. Attendees and players will receive generous in-game rewards, including:

  • 20,000 Cron Stones
  • Seven “J's Hammers of Loyalty”
  • Rare Hammer Selection Box
  • Advice of Valks (+300)
  • Weapon Exchange Coupon Chest

These rewards aim to support both veterans and newcomers while encouraging participation in the new content.
