Black Desert Online, the renowned MMORPG by Pearl Abyss, is gearing up for a major change: its North American servers. Following the announcement during the 2022 Calpheon Ball, the long-awaited relocation will finally take place later this month. Simultaneously, Black Desert Mobile also receives a substantial update, introducing the region of North Kamasylvia.
The server transfer to a new location will occur during the weekly maintenance scheduled for May 22nd. Since the launch of Black Desert Online in North America, the servers have been located on the West Coast. However, data reveals that 70% of players on NA servers are concentrated on the East Coast and Central US. With the aim of enhancing the gaming experience for all players, the new NA server will be relocated to the central region of the United States. This change is expected to optimize performance and reduce latency for East Coast players, while the new central location seeks to balance distribution more equitably.
The announcement of the move was accompanied by a map detailing the origins of players' connections, with examples of possible ping variations. The team acknowledges that the move may negatively impact West Coast players in terms of performance but emphasizes that the primary goal is to enhance the gaming experience for the majority of players, a constant priority for Pearl Abyss.
Meanwhile, in the Black Desert Mobile universe, players can celebrate the addition of the new and challenging region of North Kamasylvia. This expansion brings with it new areas to explore, formidable monsters to face, and a range of new objectives and rewards. The new zones include Kamasylvia: Forest's Wound, featuring effects similar to those of West Kamasylvia on the Shady Fog Forest Path. With a name that evokes mystery and danger, a variety of challenging creatures are expected to be encountered. To enter this region, a CP of 60,000 is recommended, with increasingly challenging encounters as one progresses.
Within North Kamasylvia, players will also find the new Chaos Rift X, named Tranquil Foggy Forest. To enter this location, one must obtain a Virtuous Shield, which grants 18 minutes to face the monsters and seek glory and rewards.
