Blizzard Entertainment announced this Monday (April 8) the content roadmap for Diablo IV in 2025. The update highlights the continuation of the so-called "Age of Hatred," which began with the game’s release and was expanded upon in the Vessel of Hatred expansion.
Key additions include new seasonal content, additional bosses, quality-of-life improvements, crossovers with other intellectual properties, and the introduction of pets. The roadmap leads up to the game’s second expansion, scheduled for release in 2026.
Themed Seasons and New Challenges Set the Tone for 2025
The current season, centered around the Sorcery Powers, will be followed by three major events throughout the year:
- The Return of Belial: marks the comeback of the Lord of Lies. Players will be able to face Belial as part of the new Lair Bosses system, which will also feature two enemies introduced in the Vessel of Hatred expansion.
- Sins of the Horadrim: brings new challenges in the Nightmare Dungeons, emphasizing difficulty progression and battles against the barons of Hell.
- Infernal Chaos: updates to the Infernal Horde system will offer greater customization for players, including new options during the Infernal Waves.
In addition to the seasonal content, permanent game changes are also on the way. One highly anticipated feature is support for keyboard and mouse on consoles, giving players greater control over their experience in Sanctuary.
Blizzard is also implementing improvements to the Battle Pass and Seasonal Journey systems to make them more rewarding.
The company also revealed that two crossovers with other franchises are planned for this year. While no details have been shared, Blizzard confirmed that these collaborations aim to merge the Diablo universe with other franchises that share its dark themes.
