With the announcement of The Midnight King, the final update of the Secrets of the Obscure expansion, Guild Wars 2 is looking towards the future with a new studio and roadmap update. There are updates on WvW, PvP changes, a date for the next skills and balance update, and much more as we move towards the announcement of the next expansion.

The restructuring process of World vs. World has been ongoing for some time, and a new milestone is on the horizon. Starting on June 14th, WvW will be reset and the system will transition to a continuous beta status. Moving to this stage will allow the team to gather consistent data and enable faster changes as they continue to refine the systems. There will be an extended final linking period until June 14th, with mitigations in place to assist with queues. Expect further changes in July.

Also in June, the next skills and balance update arrives on the 25th, with a preview for feedback in the preceding week. The month also brings quality of life changes and PvP reward improvements ahead of the next ranked season, starting on July 2nd. ArenaNet will diversify available build options by adding two attribute amulets and new runes, as well as making ascended armor and weapons more available in PvP. They will also streamline PvP tournaments in July to have fewer events, increased competition, and the return of the Tournament of Legends event twice a year.

As for what comes after The Midnight King, players can expect a devblog revisiting Secrets of the Obscure in a few weeks. This blog will also feature some lessons the team is learning for the next expansion. This is teased further by the mention that "shortly after that, you'll see for the first time what the next expansion has to offer." With the updated expansion cadence and the promise of more frequent content, a summer announcement is likely.
