Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 launches on November 6, 2026, across all platforms. The update will introduce three multiplayer maps, four weapons, new events and an underground DMZ facility called Designation X01. A mid-season update, Season 1 Reloaded, will add more maps, modes and weapon attachments.

Content will roll out over several weeks, with activities starting before the season launches. Possession is scheduled for October 29, followed by the return of Infected on October 30. According to the roadmap published by Dot Esports, more details about Modern Warfare 4's integration with Warzone during Season 1 will be revealed on November 2.

Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 multiplayer maps

Three maps will arrive at the start of Season 1: Backstab, Canyon and Shoot House. Backstab and Canyon are new locations, while Shoot House returns in a redesigned version.

  • Backstab: A new medium-sized map for 6v6 matches, inspired by Burgundy from Call of Duty 2.
  • Canyon: A new medium-sized environment built for two teams of six players.
  • Shoot House: A redesigned version of the medium-sized map featured in previous Call of Duty games.

Season 1 Reloaded will expand the map pool with Ministry and Overflow, alongside additional locations yet to be announced.

New multiplayer modes and limited-time events

Season 1 will introduce new modes and bring back options from previous games. The Halloween-themed Possession mode lets players take control of eliminated opponents, teleport to their positions and use their equipment.

In Infected, one infected player faces the survivors. The infected team grows by eliminating other players, while survivors must stay alive until the match ends.

At launch, Drop Zone will have teams competing for objectives that change location. Killstreak care packages will periodically appear in the contested area, giving players resources to hold positions or push against the opposing team.

The schedule also includes Gauntlet 1v1 Gunfight, a limited-time mode tied to the Wager Match event. Players will wager trophies and fight one-on-one to progress and unlock rewards.

Season 1 Reloaded will introduce additional modes, including Counter Attack. Teams must plant bombs at enemy communications stations while protecting their own facilities.

DMZ adds the underground Designation X01 facility

The DMZ mode will receive a new operational area called Designation X01, an underground weapons facility occupied by enemy forces. Players will infiltrate the site through Hajin, following a route near North Korea's northern border.

The complex features dimly lit corridors, tunnels, connected chambers and a clandestine weapons assembly line. Multiple floors and vertical routes will require squads to coordinate as they explore the facility.

New mission orders will support operations inside X01. Ghost will act as an observer during incursions, providing guidance to help squads locate areas, track threats and navigate the complex.

DMZ events and rewards

The Threat Briefing event will challenge players to identify and defeat bosses before extracting exclusive gear and earning rewards.

Two specific challenges are planned:

  • Battle Tank: Fight a North Korean battle tank in Hajin and collect vehicle parts across multiple incursions.
  • The Captain: Enter X01, defeat the Captain and collect pieces of the Juggernaut helmet.

The Resupply Run event will encourage players to search points of interest for items that can be exchanged for equipment, including self-revive kits and three-plate armor vests.

The Forward Operating Base (FOB) will also receive functional and cosmetic improvements. New features include a station for accessing the Battle Pass, BlackCell content and store bundles, as well as updated information panels for bosses and commanders.

Four new weapons arrive in Season 1

Modern Warfare 4's arsenal will expand with four weapons during the season. Two will be available through the Battle Pass, while the others will be earned through event rewards.

  • Cronen Osprey: An assault rifle available through the Season 1 Battle Pass.
  • CSG-35: A submachine gun also tied to the Battle Pass.
  • JAK 12: A shotgun planned as an event reward.
  • ZLR Talonhawk: A melee weapon obtainable through an event.

The season will also introduce attachments that change how existing weapons perform. The Hyeon Auto Apex converts the Hyeon Burst rifle to fully automatic fire at the cost of reduced accuracy. It will be available through Wager Match.

The Kastov 545 Apex converts the Kastov 762 to 5.45×39 mm ammunition, focusing on smoother handling and faster consecutive shots. The M16 Burst modifies the M4 to fire controlled bursts. Kits for the .50 GS pistol and FINN light machine gun are also planned.

Wager Match rewards players throughout Season 1

The Wager Match event will be available in multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone. Players will earn trophies by completing challenges and use them to progress through a reward track that includes weapon attachments.

In multiplayer, the event will feature the Gauntlet 1v1 Gunfight playlist. DMZ and Warzone will offer their own challenges, providing additional ways to earn trophies.

Players who finish in the top three may receive extra rewards. The progression track includes an operator skin, weapon blueprints, camouflage patterns and Apex attachments.

More events will arrive throughout Season 1 and with the mid-season update, including camouflage unlock challenges and the Joint Fire Event, which will offer an XP bonus for squads.

With its November 6 launch, Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 will roll out new content in stages, combining multiplayer maps, extraction missions, weapons and limited-time events. Season 1 Reloaded will expand the lineup later, while details about the Warzone integration are scheduled for November 2.
