PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS has released Update 36.1 for PC, with the console version scheduled to arrive on June 19.
The new update brings major changes to the competitive system and kicks off the 2025 Black Market ahead of schedule.
Competitive Mode Overhaul
The competitive system has been expanded with two new tiers: Crystal and Survivor, with Survivor now being the highest possible rank in the game. Ranking Points (RP) are now unified across all game modes (Duos or Squads) and perspectives (FPP/TPP).
Starting with Season 36, all players will have their RP reset to 1,500 points, marking a fresh start to the ranked system.
To bring the competitive experience closer to standard matches, features such as the Recall System and Red Zone, previously exclusive to Normal Mode, are now also present in Ranked Mode.
Competitive rewards have also been adjusted based on community feedback.
Another highlight is the addition of Duos to all regions in Ranked Mode.
2025 Black Market
The Black Market returns earlier than in previous years and brings back progressive weapon skins, Chroma variants, and new cosmetic items. The offers rotate weekly through the Hideout and include Contraband Crates, Workshop Passes, and exclusive crafting content.
A key new feature is the currency selection option, allowing certain items to be purchased using either G-Coin or BP, giving players more flexibility when accessing content.
Weapon Balance and Map Distribution Changes
The update includes several important weapon balance adjustments:
- AUG: damage reduced (from 41 to 40), and weapon sway decreased by 50% for improved handling.
- VSS: damage increased (from 43 to 45), bullet velocity boosted (from 330 m/s to 430 m/s), updated zeroing distances, and increased max zeroing range to 300 meters.
- Compensator: now offers +10% vertical recoil control (up from +8%).
Weapon spawn rules have also been updated:
- Now available on all maps: VSS, Mini14, Sawed-off, SCAR-L, S12K, and Vector.
- Now map-exclusive: Win94 (Karakin), G36C (Vikendi), QBU (Sanhok), DP-28 (Paramo), PP-19 Bizon (Erangel), and Mosin Nagant (Deston).
In Gunplay Labs, experimental tests are being run on DMRs (Designated Marksman Rifles), featuring a 12% damage reduction and a fire rate decrease between 40% and 45%.
