What Happened: uaenorth Down

Rainbow Six Siege runs on Microsoft Azure via PlayFab. The Middle East was primarily served by the uaenorth Azure data center in Dubai. Oman to Dubai is approximately 450km with excellent submarine cable connectivity. Omani players previously enjoyed some of the best R6 Siege latency in the region.

In March 2026, uaenorth became non-responsive. Physical infrastructure disruptions, including damage from regional conflict affecting submarine cables in the Red Sea and Gulf, impacted Azure's UAE North facilities. While R6 Siege uses Azure (not AWS), these physical cables are shared infrastructure. When the cables are damaged, all cloud providers are affected.
