As of today, at 3 PM PDT, World of Warcraft's latest expansion, "The War Within," is officially live for all players. This expansion marks the beginning of the Worldsoul Saga, an epic journey that will unfold over three parts. "The War Within" introduces a host of new features, including fresh zones to explore, new challenges, both new and familiar characters, and much more. Additionally, Blizzard has made the expansion’s soundtrack available for streaming, so players can immerse themselves in the new adventure’s atmosphere.
The expansion has been globally unlocked, allowing players to dive into new areas such as the Nerubian Empire. Here, Xal'atath makes a return, amassing and forming new forces, primarily of the arachnid variety, to realize her plans of destruction in Azeroth. Blizzard has also introduced a new accessibility feature for arachnophobia, making the expansion more comfortable for all players.
Unlike typical antagonists, Xal'atath will be a recurring presence throughout the saga. This approach will allow for a richer, more immersive narrative experience, as the story unfolds across the three planned expansions.
New additions in this expansion include Delves, small instances that can be tackled solo or with a group of up to four players and an NPC companion, offering unique rewards. Players can also unlock a new playable race, the Earthen, by completing a series of quests and the main campaign. The Earthen, forged by titans and made of living stone, bring new possibilities for customization and gameplay.
Hero Talents are finally being introduced, providing new unlocks to further personalize class specializations with additional powers and abilities. As you level up, you will earn talent points to allocate as you choose. The expansion also features new dungeons, raids, and a new Battleground, Deephaul Ravine, which includes a 10v10 payload-style mode and an 8v8 format for Battleground Blitz.
