What Is Pirate Shop Access in Fortnite?

Pirate Shop Access is a special reward that temporarily makes eligible Item Shop cosmetics available for free. During the 14-day activation period, players can claim outfits, emotes, pickaxes, back blings and other qualifying cosmetics currently available in the store.

All claimed items remain permanently in the player's Locker, even after the free access period expires. This makes the reward particularly valuable for players interested in expensive cosmetics, including items from the latest One Piece collaboration.

How to Get Pirate Shop Access in Fortnite

Players can obtain Pirate Shop Access by opening Treasure Hunt chests during Battle Royale matches in the Treasure Hunters mini-season. The token is an extremely rare random reward, and Epic Games has not disclosed its drop rate. There is no guaranteed number of chests required to find one.

Dot Esports recommends exploring named locations across the Crossbones Isle map and searching buildings for chests. Playing in a group can also help: if one player finds the token, every member of the party receives the reward.

How to Activate Pirate Shop Access

Once the token is in your account, follow these steps:

Return to the Fortnite lobby.
Open the Item Shop from the main menu.
Select Plunder the Item Shop in the bottom-right corner.
Choose Activate Now on the Pirate Shop Access screen.
Browse eligible cosmetics and claim them without spending V-Bucks.

The 14-day countdown starts as soon as you activate the token. Consider waiting until the Item Shop features the cosmetics you want before activating it. You do not have to claim everything on the same day, but items that leave the store rotation will no longer be available through that particular offer.

When Does Pirate Shop Access Expire?

Each token offers two separate activation windows, providing up to 28 days of free Item Shop access across 2026 and 2027.

First activation: November 1 to December 15, 2026.
Second activation: January 1 to December 15, 2027.
Duration: 14 consecutive days per activation.

Players who do not use their first activation by December 15, 2026, will lose that opportunity. The second activation is reserved for 2027.

What Can and Cannot Be Claimed With Pirate Shop Access?

Pirate Shop Access covers almost all cosmetics sold for V-Bucks in the regular Item Shop. Eligible items include outfits, crossover cosmetics, pickaxes, emotes, sprays, gliders, contrails and Jam Tracks.

However, four restrictions apply:

Real-money purchases: Starter Packs and other cash-only offers are excluded.
Gifting: Tokens cannot be used to send free items to other players.
Battle Pass: Players cannot purchase the Battle Pass or its levels.
Sidekicks: Only one of each eligible Sidekick can be claimed, with no additional copies of ones already owned.
