The first television commercial for Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) aired during NBA games on October 20, featuring several edits compared with Rockstar Games’ recently released launch trailer. The TV version removes two brief clips featuring sexual content in shower scenes while retaining the game’s action sequences. It also includes a few additional frames that were not present in the original trailer.

The ad aired during the NBA season opener, including the game between the New York Knicks and the Philadelphia 76ers. Social media users also reported seeing it during matchups between the Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics, as well as the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs.

GTA 6 TV Commercial Edits Two Shower Scene Clips

The television spot is based on Rockstar Games’ GTA 6 launch trailer. The most noticeable difference is the editing of the shower scenes, with two brief moments removed from the broadcast version.

One shower scene remains in the ad, while two other clips containing sexual content have been cut. The changes suggest an adaptation for television broadcasts, including live sports coverage, although Rockstar has not publicly explained the edits.

The rest of the commercial retains scenes featuring action, weapons, explosions, robberies and other elements associated with the franchise’s criminal setting. The identified edits are concentrated in the brief sexual-content sequences.

GTA 6 Commercial Includes a Few New Frames

Viewers also spotted subtle differences between the TV ad and the launch trailer. In one scene, a few additional frames appear after Jason playfully punches Lucia in the arm.

Another change occurs when Lucia jumps from a truck and grabs onto an airplane’s landing gear. The commercial extends the moment slightly, adding a few frames to the sequence.

These changes do not reveal significant new details about GTA 6’s story or gameplay. However, they offer small visual differences for fans closely examining the game’s promotional material.

GTA 6 Promotion Expands to a Miami Heat Game

The advertising campaign also includes a promotion connected to the Miami Heat, an NBA team. According to the original report by Kotaku, the team is scheduled to hold a GTA 6-sponsored game featuring special uniforms and other promotional activities.

Advertising the game during sports broadcasts expands its reach beyond traditional gaming-focused marketing channels. NBA coverage also gives Rockstar an opportunity to reach basketball fans who may not regularly follow video game industry news.

When Does GTA 6 Release?

Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, according to the release date featured in the promotional campaign cited in the report. Developed by Rockstar Games, the title is among the most anticipated upcoming video game releases.

The TV commercial attracted attention on social media, particularly because it brought the game’s marketing campaign to a major live sports broadcast.

With the release scheduled for November, television advertising represents another stage in GTA 6’s official promotional campaign. So far, the additional frames identified in the commercial have not revealed substantial new information about the game.
