As World of Warcraft Cataclysm Classic gains momentum, it's time for esports to take center stage with the thrilling Dragonslayer Challenge and Arena Tournament. Whether you're a PVP or PVE enthusiast, there's something exciting in store for everyone in these two events.
Today, Blizzard announced the details of these events, along with their competition formats and schedules. Both will be livestreamed on Warcraft Twitch and YouTube channels.
Kicking off first is the Dragonslayer Challenge, commencing on June 8th and concluding on Sunday, June 9th, with the broadcast starting at 10 AM PDT. Two of the top speedrunning guilds, Progress and None of the Above, will have just a day to prepare new characters and complete Cataclysm dungeons, as well as test their luck with RNG to gear up, all in preparation to face the three new raids on the second day.
On Sunday, each guild will field their best lineup and compete against each other and the clock to complete the three raids – Bastion of Twilight, Throne of the Four Winds, and Blackwing Descent. The first to complete the challenge and defeat all bosses will take home the lion's share of a $50,000 prize pool.
The following weekend, the Cataclysm Arena Tournament will offer intense PvP competition, with another $50,000 prize pool up for grabs. On June 14th, the top eight teams from Europe will clash, followed by the top eight teams from the Americas on June 15th. Finally, on June 16th, the best teams from both regions will vie for victory in the final, with $25,000 reserved for the winning team from each region.
